All-on-4 is a revolutionary treatment concept designed to give you a brand-new smile in a day. If you are missing most or all of the teeth in your upper and/or lower jaw, All-on-4 can replace the entire arch of teeth at the same time. The artificial teeth are supported by dental implant posts, so they are strong, stable and can bite and chew into virtually any food.All-on-4 is available in Woodbury, Minn., with experienced dentist Avi Matha of Tamarack Hills Family Dentistry. Dr. Matha would be happy to meet with you, assess your dental health and advise whether All-on-4 is a suitable solution for your needs.
All-on-4 is extremely popular among Dr. Matha’s patients who are missing teeth or struggling with ill-fitting, uncomfortable dentures. The All-on-4 treatment concept uses a dental prosthetic that resembles complete dentures and clips onto the top of four implant posts placed throughout your jawbone. The prosthetic is firmly fixed into place, and can only be removed by a dentist.
The All-on-4 teeth function like natural teeth, enabling you to speak comfortably and eat your favorite foods, including meat, corn on the cob and apples. Unlike dentures, the All-on-4 dental prosthetic won’t slip or slide around in your mouth or make embarrassing clicking or popping noises when you speak.
Because the dental prosthetic is supported by dental implant posts that fuse with your jawbone, All-on-4 helps keep your jawbone healthy. The forces of biting and chewing on the implant posts preserve the strength of your jawbone, preventing it from deteriorating due to lack of use.
Another benefit to the All-on-4 system is that it can be placed in a single appointment. By using only four dental implant posts for the entire arch of teeth — instead of one implant post per tooth — All-on-4 significantly cuts down on treatment time. It is sometimes referred to as “immediate dentures,” because the implant posts and artificial teeth can be placed the same day any remaining natural teeth are removed from your mouth.
Your All-on-4 placement process begins with an evaluation of your mouth and treatment planning with Dr. Matha. He will also extract any loose or weak teeth remaining in your upper or lower jaw. After completing the extractions, he will place four implant posts throughout your jaw. Then, he will attach a set of artificial teeth to the tops of the posts, and screw the prosthetic to the posts for maximum stability. You cannot take the teeth in and out of your mouth, as this requires professional tools.
Once your All-on-4 prosthetic is in place, you may need a few days to adjust to the feeling of your new teeth. Soon you will be amazed at how well you can bite, chew and speak confidently.
Diligent care and cleaning is necessary to prevent food particles from getting trapped around the base of the All-on-4 prosthetic. Dr. Matha and our team can provide complete instructions for caring for your new teeth and preventing the buildup of food particles and bacteria. Maintaining a good oral hygiene routine helps extend the longevity of your All-on-4 prosthetic.
